June 14th, 2010How We Discovered the Single Cup Coffee Maker
my folks is pretty much just like most other standard American families. We enjoy our youngsters, work hard and try and enjoy our time off with relatives and buddies. We’ve always enjoyed a great mug of coffee in the morning and perhaps even after dinner. For years we did what everyone else did, buy ground coffee brands, dump the grounds in a filter, stick it in the brewer and wait for 8 cups or so to pour through. Then we started buying entire beans, which needed the purchase of a grinder. Fun for a while, but sloppy.

Then one evening my better half and I were at a friend’s house for dinner and they offered us a cup. When asked what I preferred I just indicated that I would have whatever everyone else wanted. Our buddy opened the cupboard and showed us a selection of small cups, each packed with enough coffee for a single cup… Dark roasts, breakfast mixes, you say it. She then pointed to the corner of the kitchen and introduced us to the single cup coffee maker. I subsequently learned this was a Keurig model. One of one or two manufactured by folks that invented what is called the’K Cup’ system.
the subsequent morning when we started the process of brewing another pot of coffee the unavoidable conversation started about what we had found the night before. We both loved coffee. We did not always agree on what variety we wanted on a given morning. We didn’t always drink the whole pot. And we were both a bit tired of the mess and bother involved in brewing a bowl of coffee ( yeah… We can be a small lazy in the morning… First one out of bed makes the coffee ). So I opened the laptop PC and started doing a little analysis on single cup coffee makers. I assure you, I’m taking my time when taking a look at products. After a day or two of looking and discussing I settled on one or two brands. You can see the options I considered below. These are all superb options and took substantial time ( and more than one or two eye rolls from my bride ) for me to sort through the options. I ultimately ordered the Keurig B70 single cup coffee maker. Feature for feature the best single cup coffee maker I could find.
