At some point in their lives, most women will have to make a choice bewteen their career, and the possibility of raising a family. In the 21st century, is it possible that a woman can have both? The current economic climate dictates that both men and women need to work as many hours as possible. The worldwide recession is hitting home. There are so many permutations. Part time, full time, job share, work from home, self employed. The good thing for potential working mothers is that they have a choice. For women, there are many pressures surrounding the phrase ‘working mum’, mostly from other women, and male employers. Once a mother has made the decision to return to work, there are a thousand things to be concerned about.
Childcare, natural bonding, travel arrangements, time management – the list may in fact be endless. But examination of a gropu of women’s motives for returning to their careers reveals far more than economic concerns. Many young women who had reached seniority within their spheres believed they were being ‘held back’ by their employers, just in case they decided to have children at some point. Many who reached the pinnacle of their careers and then did go on to have children found that their job description would have altered, promotion no longer an option, or their hours drastically reduced. But the argument here is that if they reached senior positions in the first place, it is because they are good at their job.
A child does not alter that fact, but it does alter how everyone else perceives the woman herself. When that woman is balancing a top occupation with organsing a nanny, daycare, transport, shopping, cooking and running a household, outsiders might start to ask questions of her commitment to work or family. Other women often snipe in a backhanded fashion. ‘I don’t know you do it’, can often really mean ‘I don’t think you should be doing it’. Then there is the problem of being made to feel guilty about leaving young children with daycare. Who is really bringing them up? What happens if they are ill? How does that reflect upon the mother? Does she really love her child? For women it seems tough enough without having to answer questions about her maternal instincts. A man is never questioned about his paternal instincts, as men are expected to work and provide a sound basic living standard for his family. A working married mother may wish to continue working to maintain her own standards, enjoy the day with adult conversation, or simply feel like maintaining her own identity. Susan may want to have everyone see her as ‘Susan’, not ‘Eve’s mum’.
But single mothers have the toughest time of all. The alternative to work is a life of living on benefits, which some might accept, but most will not. A single mother probably cannot afford childcare, and has to rely on friends and family a lot more. Working part time, or working from home are great options, but like everyone else, a single mother wants to ensure a decent future for their child. Apart from the financial rewards, working ensures that women feel ‘in control’ of some aspect of their lives. It might not be any fun leaving the house early, and coming home late to cooking and housework, but it tends to lead to independent, solid, rounded children. The days when one or both parents are able to spend quality time with the children makes that time far more special and worthwhile. Working women, on the whole, are far more patient, and tend to do more as a family during their spare time than mothers who are with their children 24/7. While working mums might not be around at all times to be as supportive as they should be, they generally do what they can. Life is never perfect, but until men are able to see a woman’s point of view, it never will be.

INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 cocoa butter
* 2 tablespoons of beeswax (grated)
* 2 teaspoons of distilled water
* 3 tablespoon of sesame oil
* 2 tablespoon of coconut oil
* 1 tablespoon of olive oil
PREPARATION
* Combine beeswax with water and melt over low heat
* Add cocoa butter and blend
* Gradually add coconut, sesame, and olive oil
* Pour into a glass jar, the mix will thicken as it cools down
* Apply on the body
Coconut oil is rich with vitamins and fats that soften the skin. Cocoa butter combined with coconut oil protect the skin from wind and cold. This moisturizer creates a protective layer on the skins surface.
Sesame oil is also a good way to protect from damaging sunrays as it can be used as a natural sun blocker. Olive oil moisturizes and smoothes the skin.
Honey is a humectant which means it attracts and retains water, which moisturizes our skin. Mix 1 ฝ tsps. honey, ฝ a lemon, 3 tbs. yogurt and a whipped egg white and apply to face. Let stand for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
Mix 1 tsp. each of almond and mil powder along with two tbs. glycerin and a tbs. each of lemon juice and almond oil. Mix all the above and apply once a week.
Melt the following ingredients together over a water bath:
3 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon almond oil, and
1/2 tablespoon beeswax
Directions: In a separate bowl dissolve 1/2 teaspoon borax in 3 tablespoons of heated water. Then slowly add the heated water to oils, and stir until a cool cream is ready.
Ingredients
Sunflower seed meal (finely ground) 1/8 cup
Applesauce 1/8 cup
Recipe
Mix the ingredients into a paste.
How to use
Apply the paste with gentle circular motions into the skin. Allow the paste remain on the skin for about 10 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and gently pat dry.
Homemade moisturizer for oily, acne-prone skin:
Mix 1 medium sized apple (grated) with 5 Tb sp. honey. smooth over skin, let sit for about 10 minutes, and then wash off with COOL water.
Just apply fresh fruit to your face is good. Your skin absorbs the vitamins and minerals. Leave on for 10 minutes or so, then wash off.
INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 cup of almond oil
* 2 tablespoons of beeswax (grated)
* ผ cup of distilled water
* 1/4 cup of rose water
* 5 drops of galbanum essential oil
* 4 drops of rose essential oil
PREPARATION
* Combine beeswax with distilled water and melt over low heat
* When It is blended, pour it into a blender and blend on low speed
* While the blender is still running, add gradually almond oil, rose water and the rest of the essential oils
* The mix will look like frosting and will slowly thicken as it cools down
* Pour it into a glass jar and use sparingly
This lotion can be used anywhere from 3-5 months, as long as it is kept in a cool and dry place.

Chemical Skin Peels Defined and Benefits

A chemical skin peel is a popular procedure used to treat various skin problems and conditions from acne, age spots, wrinkles and even some cancerous and precancerous growths. A caustic acid or substance is applied to the skin to burn and usually slough off or remove the outer layers of the skin (epidermis) and allow new skin to grow. Some chemical peels may go deeper into the dermis (next layer of skin). The purpose of this chemical peeling is to remove damaged, blemished, sun-damaged, freckled skin and replace it with younger, healthier skin. After healing the skin will be tighter, thicker (due to increased collagen production – an added benefit of the stronger peels). Upon healing the skin may appear fuller, smoother with smaller pores and with less wrinkles and fine lines. Basically ones skin will look rejuvenated and more youthful following a chemical peel.
There are many types and varieties of these chemical peels. They are usually grouped and defined by their relative strength and depth of the peel that is achieved. There are basically four groups, the light peels (AHA), light oil-based peels (BHA), medium peels (TCA), and deep peels (Phenol).
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) – These are the mildest of the peels. They are usually sugar derived hence their names, glycolic, malic, lactic and other fruit acids. These peels are usually performed by a dermatologist or esthetician and have minimal healing or downtime. Downtime is referred to as the time when the skin is healing and may be uncomfortable to be viewed in public due to peeling and possibly discolored dead skin that is usually associated with a deeper peel. These lighter peels are usually done on an outpatient basis and are commonly referred to as a lunch time peel. An occlusive dressing similar to plastic wrap or layering (more than one application at one time) may be used to drive the acid in further and result in a deeper peel. They are effective for light skin pigmentation problems, reduction of oil produced by overactive sebaceous glands, sun spots, light sun damage and other minor skin problems. Usually multiple treatments are required to have the desired effect as it is not a deep peel. AHAs are easily dissolved in water and are prepared either as a liquid or a cream. Glycolic acid is the most popular and extensively used of these peels.
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids) – The main difference between these acids and alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) is that BHAs are only oil soluble. There is basically only one BHA, salicylic acid. This unique feature of being oil soluble makes this acid very effective in cleaning and removing bacteria, dead skin cells and sebum oil from deep inside the pores. Because of this solubility difference, salicylic acid is better suited for use on oily, irritated skin with postules, blackheads and whiteheads. It is available in numerous forms, cream, gel, lotions, shampoo and topical solutions. The latter two forms are primarily for treating the scalp as salicylic acid has also been found effective in the treatment of dandruff, psoriasis, and dermatitis of the skin and scalp. Same as with AHA peels, occlusive dressings and/or layering may be used to drive the acid in farther.
TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) – TCA or trichloroacetic acid peels are deeper medium depth peels. TCA is a more effective and longer lasting peel than the sugar and citric peels as it goes deeper into the dermis and can therefore treat more skin ailments, conditions and problems. A TCA peel does not require layering or occlusive dressings (methods used to drive AHA and BHA peels deeper). TCA, being a deeper peel, is effective on more skin conditions and problems. Basically a TCA peel has the benefits of both AHA and BHA peels along with deeper penetration and longer lasting effects. Healing or downtime tends to be longer as much as several weeks or more depending on the depth achieved. Peeling is more severe and the results more dramatic. TCA peels are routinely used by dermatologist and plastic surgeons in office as recommended treatments for all stages of acne including acne vulgaris. Numerous clinical studies have found to be every bit as effective as Accutane without any of the side effects (Accutane has been in the news lately for some rather severe potential side effects). TCA peels have also been proven to remove and treat freckles, years of sun damage, bad pigmentation, scars, loose skin and wrinkles and fine lines. TCA has recently even been used by doctors to treat, remove and lighten tattoos.
Phenol Peels. Phenol peels are the deepest chemical skin peels. They commonly result in a permanent bleaching pigmentation effect as they reach deeply through the dermis.. Phenol is toxic when absorbed through the skin and can effect heart rate, function and cause arrythmias, so a phenol peel is always done in a doctors care and with anesthesia as it is the deepest and most painful of the peels. It is a last resort peel due to its harshness and bleaching properties. Phenol is rarely performed nowadays due to its toxicity and the advent of safer medium depth peels like the TCA peel. Phenol peels have a long healing process and can require extensive care.
There are various derivatives of each of these 4 groups, but basically these are the various chemical skin peelsl. Clinical studies published in the Annals of Plastic Surgery and elsewhere show the TCA peels are the most effective of the peels on the most skin conditions and problems. Regardless of the peel used, maximum sun protection must be used to protect the new skin from harmful UV rays that can cause cancer in unprotected skin. A high SPF (sun protection factor) sun block and protective attire (hats) are recommended.

The biggest chemical barrier to infectious organisms is the acid layer on the skin. Healthy skin has a pH of about 5, making it slightly acidic. Conventional body care goods that are made with refined vegetable oils which have all the antioxidants removed from them are highly prone to free-radical generation both in and outside the body. Medium chain fatty acids which are bound to the glycerol unit as they are in coconut oil have no antimicrobial properties. However, when they are broken apart into free fatty acids, they become powerful antimicrobials.
So these bacteria convert the medium chain triglycerides (in the sebum or on the skin) into free fatty acids that can kill disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Why do people use a skin lotion? What are they trying to fix?
For some its just for the comfort level. They have dry skin or mild sunburn. The problem may be as simple as revitalizing the skin after washing the dishes. Others may have a more serious condition such as cracks in the skin of the feet or hands, acne, psoriasis or eczema.
The causes of the various skin problems can obviously be different in each case. Causes range from skin being dried out by sun, wind or water to poor diet or allergies. In more serious cases the best a skin lotion can do is help alleviate the symptoms. There are an endless number of skin creams and lotions available to you depending on what the problem is that you are trying to solve.
We all know the benefits of Aloe Vera and Vitamin E but how often do you hear of honey being used to rejuvenate or repair skin.
Honey by itself is an amazing gift of nature. It is wonderfully therapeutic when taken internally.
